

Biography
Rod Balding is the Chief Executive Officer of Standards Australia and a highly respected business and finance leader with extensive experience in governance, risk management, and strategic leadership across sport, financial services, and member-based organisations.
Beyond basketball, Rod has held the role of Deputy Chair of the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee for the Australian Sports Foundation, been a member of Football Australia’s Licensing Appeals Body, and has previously served as a Partner at PwC Australia, where he led national teams and worked with many of the country’s most significant financial institutions, not-for-profits, and member-based organisations.
Rod is passionate about using his expertise to strengthen Australian sport and ensure its long-term sustainability, while inspiring the next generation of leaders both on and off the court. He was a Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Finance & Risk Committee for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2022, where he played a pivotal role in delivering a landmark event that returned more than $3.5 million in profit, established strong diversity and inclusion legacies, and set a sustainability benchmark for future global tournaments.
Rod currently serves as Chair of Basketball Australia’s Nominations Committee (appointed in 2023), guiding the Board’s director appointment and election processes with a focus on probity, governance, fairness, and alignment to the organisation’s strategic plan.
