

Biography
Patrick Hunt has been at the forefront of international coach and player development leadership for more than four decades and is considered one of the pre-eminent experts in the field globally. He also has extensive experience as a referee and designing referee development programs at a national and international level
Patrick has coached over 350 games representing Australia including the Olympics, the World Junior Men’s Championships, and the World University Games. He was one of the initial Coaches for the Australian Institute of Sport Basketball program and was Head Coach of the Men’s program from 1982 to 1992. Patrick has also been engaged by FIBA to scout, identify and analyse international trends for coaching, refereeing and styles of play at international Basketball competitions including Olympic Games and Men’s and Women’s World Cups.
Hunt is currently President of the FIBA World Association of Basketball Coaches. He has also served on the FIBA Technical Commission, being appointed Chairman from 2014 to 2023 and is currently the Deputy Chair through to 2027.
Patrick has been the recipient of many prestigious awards recognising his outstanding and significant contributions to Basketball, some of which include; being inducted as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM), being awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000, being inducted as a coach to the Australian Basketball Hall of Fame and the Basketball New South Wales Hall of Fame and receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the USA National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) in recognition of his exceptional commitment to the advancement of Coaching excellence Worldwide spanning over more than four decades
Patrick was appointed to the Basketball Australia High Performance Committee in 2025.
