Dominant Display Sees Australia Take Double Gold
Australia has claimed double gold at the 2025 Virtus Basketball World Championships, with the Pearls and Boomerangs crowned 3x3 World Champions in Kazakhstan.
Alice Kunek is one of the most experienced members of the Opals squad having played extensively through Europe and home soil.
The Victorian-born forward followed the traditional pathway of attending the AIS (now Centre of Excellence) before building her career in the WNBL with Bulleen and Dandenong then later Perth and Sydney.
She’s played extensively in France and also Poland and Hungary enjoying Euro League success at Sopron with fellow Opal Ezi Magbegor in 2022-23.
Selected in the Opals team for a home Asia Cup-campaign in Sydney, Kunek produced an impressive campaign earning All-Star Five accolades as well as a bronze medal.
Kunek returned to the WNBL in 2023-24 signing with the Townsville Fire.

In her first year out of the AIS, Alice was a member of the Bulleen Boomers inaugural WNBL championship in 2010-11.
