Jacob Chance got a dream return on the sideline as the Boomers dismantled Syria 123 - 64 to make a dominant start to their Manila road trip.
Elijah Pepper made a massive return in the green and gold with 32 points, four steals & two assists.
The Perth Wildcats guard started hot and torched Syria with 14 points in the first half and 4 / 6 from three-point range. He didn’t stop there, opening the third with back-to-back points and continued to torment the Syrian defensive effort.
It was a second quarter slipstream where Australia took the game away. The signature Boomers press was on and they suffocated Syria with team defense to score 36 – 11 in the second alone. The Boomers led by 36 points at half time.
We got the first look at Max Mackinnon and Anthony Dell’Orso at senior level and both contributed dutifully. Mackinnon finished with 10 points, two assists and Dell’Orso 11 points, four rebounds.
Rebounding was a notable metric of dominance. Josh Bannan and Jacob Holt finished as leaders in rebounds with eight apiece. The Boomers won the count 55 – 24.
