Miela Sowah will come into the Australian Opals team for the FIBA Women’s World Cup starting in Berlin on 4 September.
The Queenslander has been added with the late withdrawal of Sami Whitcomb due to knee soreness and will join the team as they travel to Germany.
“Miela gives us another genuine scoring threat and is one of the best shooters in the WNBL,” says Head Coach, Sandy Brondello.
“Her ability to stretch the floor, attack close-outs and play with confidence gives us another important offensive weapon,”

Sowah is a 2 x WNBL Champion with the Townsville Fire and currently on the Golden State Valkyries roster in the WNBA.
She played a key role in the Opals team who claimed a breakthrough gold at the FIBA Asia Cup in 2025.
The Opals start their World Cup campaign against Puerto Rico on 4 September. Tip off at 7:30pm AEST.
