Basketball Australia has unveiled a new generation of Australian national team playing uniforms, introducing a bold and unified look that will be worn by the country’s senior teams on the international stage.
Featuring a modernised AUS identity across the front of the playing jersey, the new uniforms represent one of the most visible expressions of Basketball Australia’s refreshed national brand and mark the beginning of a new era for Australian basketball.
The uniforms bring Australia’s senior national teams together through a consistent design language while retaining the iconic green and gold synonymous with representing the country.
The new on-court look introduces custom typography and numbering, a refined green and gold colour palette and updated detailing, creating a contemporary identity designed to stand proudly alongside the world’s leading basketball nations. Side panels also feature artwork by First Nations artist Danny O’Shane, representing connection to land, culture and the importance of family and community.
The Australian Opals will become the first senior national team to wear the new uniform in international competition when they take the court at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in Germany from 4–13 September.
The Australian Rollers and Gliders will follow at the IWBF World Championships in Canada in September, with the Australian Boomers to debut the uniform during the November FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifying window. The new identity will progressively extend across Australia’s senior national teams, including the Australian Gangurrus.
Basketball Australia CEO Matt Scriven said the uniforms represented more than a change to what Australia’s athletes wear on court.
“Pulling on the green and gold and representing Australia is one of the greatest honours in our sport, and we wanted these uniforms to reflect both that history and where Australian basketball is heading.”
“The AUS identity provides a strong and unmistakably Australian look for our national teams, while creating greater connection across the athletes and programs that represent our country around the world.”
“Whether it is the Opals, Boomers, Rollers, Gliders or Gangurrus taking the court, they are part of one Australian basketball family. This new uniform provides a shared identity that brings that to life.”
The introduction of the AUS uniforms follows Basketball Australia’s broader national rebrand - developed by international and award winning design agency Hulsbosch - to create a more contemporary and connected identity across the sport.
The refreshed brand includes new national team identities, updated typography, a refined colour palette and a stronger visual language designed to better connect Australian basketball from the community game through to the international stage.
Opals athlete Steph Reid said wearing the new uniform for the first time carried special significance ahead of the World Cup.
“Every time you put on an Australian jersey it means something. You think about everyone who has worn it before you, your teammates beside you and everyone back home you are representing.”
“There is a really strong feel to the new uniform. It still feels unmistakably Australian, but the AUS identity gives it a fresh look and we’re incredibly proud that the Opals will be the first team to wear it on the international stage.”
The uniforms have been developed with Basketball Australia’s official apparel partner iAthletic, continuing the partnership’s focus on providing Australia’s national teams with high-performance apparel for international competition.
The new AUS uniforms are now available for purchase via the Basketball Australia page in the iAthletic online store.
