Centre of Excellence wind back the clock for NBL1 East Heritage Round

Resurrecting a blast from the past, the CoE will pay homage to the classic Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) jerseys from 20 years ago. 

The Australian Institute of Sport have a storied past, with the blue and red uniforms being a staple of the basketball teams design from 1981 through to 2013, with this particular design representing the 2006 season. 

This crop of CoE talent will add to a legendary list of players that have represented the iconic navy and red 2006 uniforms including; Abby Bishop, Cayla George, Katie Rae Ebzery, Marianna Tolo and Renae Camino for the women, and Patty Mills, Joe Ingles, Tyson Demos, Nathan Jawai, AJ Ogilvy, Stephen Weigh and Daniel Johnson for the men. 

Retro round will have the CoE host the Newcastle Falcons and Sydney Comets at the Australian Institute of Sport, across Saturday the 30^th and Sunday the 31^st of May. 

The CoE women hit a bump last weekend, dropping both games to slip to sixth on the NBL1 East ladder despite plenty of positive signs. 

It doesn’t get much easier for the CoE women this week either, with another tough test looming against the fourth placed Newcastle Falcons on Saturday. 

Meanwhile, the CoE men continued their red-hot form, stretching their winning streak to seven with a statement win over fellow contenders Norths Bears. 

The CoE men now sit firmly atop of the NBL1 East ladder, with an impressive 11-1 record. 

The challenge will be particularly demanding for the CoE women, facing two opponents firmly in finals contention.
