Basketball Australia is announcing the Final 12 who will compete for the Boomers in the upcoming FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers at RAC Arena in Perth.
Australia got an early jump on 14 May with the historic announcement of Bryce Cotton and the six-time NBL MVP will be amongst familiar faces for his first window.
A stack of Boomers with connections to the West will suit up; including Ben Henshall (Perth, NBL), Keanu Pinder (Cairns Taipans, NBL), Elijah Pepper (Perth, NBL) as well as Wani Swaka Lo Buluk (Illawarra, NBL).
West Australians Henshall and Pinder will play in front of a raucous hometown crowd alongside recently extended Wildcat, Pepper. Wani and his family moved to Perth as a four-year-old and he won two championships for the Wildcats alongside Cotton from 2018 – 2021.
The WA connection continues with the highly anticipated senior debut of Gators star Alex Condon (Florida, SEC). Condon was a key cog in Florida’s NCAA Championship in 2025.
Head Coach, Adam Caporn will also make a hometown return and lead the Boomers in the upcoming window. Caporn will utilise his NBA off-season availability to signal a heightened level of intent for the group in camp and fixtures.
“Competing as a Boomer on Australian soil is always special and there’s a real excitement around this group and the opportunity to play in Perth in front of such a passionate basketball community,” said Caporn.
“As we continue building towards Qatar 2027, we’ve brought together a strong mix of experience, emerging talent and athletes earning their first opportunity with the Boomers, which makes this window particularly exciting.
“The FIBA qualifiers are critically important for our program and we’re approaching this camp and these games with great intent. We’re looking to continue developing our systems, strengthen the connections within the group and represent Australia with pride and competitiveness.”
Caporn and the coaches have options in the backcourt with Tyrese Proctor (Cleveland, NBA), Angus Glover (SEM Phoenix, NBL) and Taran Armstrong (Tasmania, NBL).
There’s a solid core of leaders with championship experience in the lineup with the inclusion of Olympian Jack McVeigh (Cairns, NBL), versatile World Cup veteran Mitch Creek (U-BT Cluj-Napoca, EuroCup) and Asia Cup champion Josh Bannan (Tasmania, NBL).
“Every camp and game gives us an opportunity to build greater cohesion, establish habits and continue strengthening the identity we want the Boomers to represent,” added Boomers’ coach, Adam Caporn.
“We know Perth fans will bring incredible energy at RAC Arena and our group is excited for the chance to compete in front of them and represent Australia the right way.”
