The stage is set for the FIBA 3x3 Women’s Series stop in Chengdu, with the Gangurrus women’s team locked in for the opening stop of the 2026 campaign on May 1–2.
Representing Australia in Chengdu is Amy Atwell, Lauren Nicholson, Marena Whittle and Hannah Hank.
On the sidelines, Hannah Lowe will lead the side across the Women’s Series in 2026, stepping up from her role as assistant coach, while Damon Lowery remains head coach for benchmark events.
“For me, the Women’s Series is about laying foundations for our women's 3x3 program. My approach is to keep the standards consistent, build a strong culture, and contribute to the development of the 'Gangurru way' — every stop adds something to that,” Lowe said.
Seeded third and looking to make an early statement, the Gangurrus will open Pool D against the United States, before facing the winner of Qualifying Draw B.
“I’m excited for the challenge that USA will bring. As it's our first game, we'll be looking to build our on-court identity early — and this match-up is perfect for that. I want to see us set the tone with our willingness to compete every possession,” Lowe said.
“What excites me most is the balance and versatility across the group. They each bring something distinct, but they all share the competitive edge and basketball IQ that 3x3 demands. The mix of skill sets and shared mentality is going to be fun to see out there.”
The Gangurrus arrive in Chengdu with strong form and a proven record at this stop of the Women’s Series.
They have enjoyed success in Chengdu, claiming titles in 2019 and 2024 and returned to the podium in 2025 with a runner-up finish.
All games will be streamed live on FIBA 3x3 YouTube.
