World champ Boomerangs are back for Asia Oceania selection

The Boomerangs (PWID) team will use a selection camp at Hoopcity in Port Melbourne this weekend to identify their best 12.

Basketball Australia is announcing a squad for the Australian Boomerangs program with a selection camp to be hosted at Hoopcity in Port Melbourne this weekend.

The Boomerangs (PWID) team will use the two-day camp to identify their best 12 ahead of the Virtus Asia Oceania Games which will be held in Bankgkok, Thailand in November.

“The announcement of this squad marks an exciting step forward for our program. We’ve brought together a strong mix of experienced leaders and emerging talent, and this camp is about building connection, standards, and a shared purpose,” said Ryan Holloway, Head Coach.

“Selection isn’t just about ability - it’s about commitment to the team and the way we represent our country.”

A cast of familiar faces from a successful tour of Kazakhstan for the World Championships are amongst the extended squad.

“Our returning athletes come into camp off the back of their most successful World Championship campaign to date, highlighted by a gold medal in 5x5 and a championship win in 3x3 at the 2026 event in Kazakhstan,” added Holloway.

“That experience sets a powerful benchmark for the group, while also creating an environment where new athletes can learn, challenge, and elevate the standard even further,”

This is an exciting page in the next chapter of the Boomerangs program."
