The Gangurrus women’s team have once again stamped their authority on the Asian region, claiming a sixth FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup title with an 18-9 win over the Philippines in Singapore.
The gold medal caps off another dominant campaign for Australia, who went unbeaten across the tournament and further cemented their standing as the benchmark program in Asia.
While the Final was comfortable, Australia’s toughest test came earlier in the day in a thrilling Semi-Final against China.
Trailing late, the Gangurrus looked in danger before Amy Atwell delivered a dagger, knocking down the game-winning score in a dramatic 21-20 victory to send the Aussies through to the gold medal game.
Kristy Wallace was also recognised for her standout tournament, named Most Valuable Player of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2026 after leading Australia in her 3x3 debut.
In the men’s competition, New Zealand ended Australia’s run with a 21-16 quarterfinal victory before going on to claim gold.
