Australia set for expanded 3x3 showdown at Glasgow 2026

Glasgow 2026 has today confirmed the nations set to compete in the 3×3 Basketball competition at this summer’s Commonwealth Games.

Australia’s 3x3 Basketball teams will return to the Commonwealth Games stage this July after Glasgow 2026 today confirmed the nations set to compete in the men’s and women’s tournaments, with an expanded field reflecting the rapid rise of the sport across the Commonwealth.

Taking place at the SEC Centre from 24–29 July, 3x3 Basketball will again bring its high-energy, festival-style atmosphere to one of the Games’ most dynamic venues.

Since making its Commonwealth debut at Birmingham 2022, the fast-paced half-court format has continued to grow in popularity, prompting organisers to expand the competition from eight teams per gender to 12 teams per gender for Glasgow.

Australia will be among a strong and diverse field of nations in both the men’s and women’s draws, alongside established 3x3 nations such as New Zealand, Kenya and Scotland, as well as a wave of debutants from across the Pacific, Africa and the Caribbean.

The confirmed line-ups are:

Australia Australia
Cayman Islands Cayman Islands
Fiji Fiji
Jamaica Guyana
Kenya  Jamaica
New Zealand  Kenya
Papua New Guinea  Malaysia

Australia’s men will be aiming to go one better after claiming silver, while the women look to build on their bronze medal performance.

Ally Wilson reflected on what the Games platform means for the discipline.

“Playing 3x3 at the Commonwealth Games for the first time in Birmingham was a massive moment for all of us, and coming away with a bronze medal, alongside our men winning silver, only fuelled our ambition,” Wilson said.

“That experience showed us what this format can mean on the Games stage — the crowds, the pace and the intensity were incredible. Heading into Glasgow 2026, we’re determined to build on that success and show just how far Australian 3x3 has come.”

The draw and full match schedule for 3x3 Basketball will be released later this year, alongside details for 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball.

Tickets are currently on sale via the Glasgow 2026 website.
