Boomers eye next phase of World Cup qualification

Three debutants and Mitch Creek returns in a 12-player team for upcoming away fixtures versus Guam & Philippines.

The next phase of the Boomers qualification trail for the FIBA Basketball World Cup has arrived and a 12-player team has been selected for upcoming away fixtures versus Guam & Philippines.

Three debutants will represent the green & gold at senior level with the inclusion of Brisbane young gun Jacob Holt, Melbourne's Tanner Krebs and Taipan, Kody Stattmann.

The senior leadership of Nick Kay and Jack White will provide a consistent base for Australia’s men with familiar firepower across the roster. Shooter Reyne Smith will suit up and Elijah Pepper returns alongside Wildcats teammate David Okwera.

Key veterans have been selected with Sam Froling and Mitch Creek back in for national team duties. Two others with experience in FIBA qualifying tournaments have been named in Isaac White and Tom Wilson.

Perth’s John Rillie will serve as the Head Coach for the upcoming window with Luke Brennan (SEM Phoenix), Robbie McKinlay (Centre of Excellence) and David Barlow (Melbourne) serving as assistants.

Australia will face Guam at the University of Guam on 26 February before travelling to Manila to face the Philippines on 1 March. More information on the Boomers schedule is available here.
