The Australian Gliders will seek a Head Coach in the new year with Craig Campbell to depart at the conclusion of his contract in January 2026.
Campbell spent four years in the position and oversaw a period of transition for Australia’s senior women’s wheelchair program.
The Victorian / Kilsyth product progressed through Basketball Australia’s wheelchair basketball coaching ranks via the U23 Spinners, Gliders and was eventually appointed in the head position after Craig Friday’s departure in 2022.
Campbell reflected on his time as Head Coach of the Gliders and the opportunity ahead.
“In any Head Coach role, you act as a custodian of the program - tasked with helping athletes recognise their potential and providing the support needed to strive for it,” said Campbell.
“The potential of this playing group is immense, and although my role as coach has concluded, my belief in this team hasn’t. Whilst I’ll no longer have the best seat in the house, I’ll be proudly cheering for The Gliders on their journey toward Brisbane 2032.”
Basketball Australia will commence the process of selecting a Head Coach of the Gliders program in January 2026.
As part of this process an interim coach will be appointed to the Gliders for immediate training and tournament activity.
