The holiday season has come early for the 2,600+ participants at the Foot Locker Australia School Championships on the Gold Coast, with each player discovering a Foot Locker Gift Card in their welcome pack.
As naming rights partner of the event, Foot Locker is providing more than $50,000 worth of gift cards over the tournament, ensuring every player and official receives one, along with additional rewards for the Gold Medal-winning male and female teams.
The highly anticipated Foot Locker Defensive Player of the Tournament award will also see one male and one female athlete each take home a $500 Foot Locker Gift Card and the honour of being recognised as the best defender at the tournament—a title determined by a selection committee using specific defensive criteria that go beyond what the stat sheets show.
“It is extremely exciting to see the scale the Foot Locker Australian Schools Championship has reached,” said Brendan Graham, Foot Locker Senior Director, Marketing, APAC, who is speaking at one of several Careers in Sports Insights Sessions being held during the tournament alongside the on-court events.
“As a former participant in both the Australian Schools and Australian Junior Representative tournaments, I know firsthand how special this experience can be. It’s the only time you and your schoolmates can step onto a national stage—and for many, this is their one chance to be part of a tournament run at a truly national level. We’re proud to add value to every participant and elevate basketball culture through the brand’s presence and initiatives like the Defensive Player of the Tournament award, which celebrates the blue-collar work ethic synonymous with Australian basketball and the local talent nurtured through Basketball Australia pathways.”
