The Rollers have delivered the perfect finish to their IWBF Asia Oceania Championships campaign, after defeating Japan 62–57 to claim the title in Bangkok today.
The win capped off a flawless week for the Rollers and reinforced their long-standing dominance in the Asia-Oceania zone.
“This is what we came here for,” Head Coach Brad Ness said.
“There’s an internal pressure, but also a lot of pride in the group.
“That’s the legacy part of it. The culture of the Rollers comes from the players who have gone before us, and we want to make sure we keep that dominance in the Asia-Oceania zone, it’s something we’re immensely proud of.
“We’ve never lost this tournament, and we want to keep that going for years to come.”
Ness also acknowledged the family, friends and Gliders who showed up in force all week.
“Our supporters are unbelievable,” he said.
“No matter where we play in the world, they manage to find a way to be there front and centre. It’s just good to know that we’ve got support in the crowd making some noise and keeping us up and about.”
With the AOZ Championship secured and qualification for the 2026 IWBF World Championships already locked in, the Rollers will now officially shift their focus to preparations for Canada next year.
