Fagan, Dickeson acknowledged at Centre of Excellence

Two CoE athletes that exemplify the character of the late Bob Staunton acknowledged with annual award

Sitaya Fagan and Alex Dickeson have been acknowledged with the Bob Staunton Scholarship which is awarded annually to Centre of Excellence (CoE) athletes that exemplify the values of the Hall of Fame award namesake.

It’s been a massive year for both Fagan and Dickeson, with representation at national junior level and they’ve demonstrated leadership on and off the court.

Peter Lonergan, General Manager of the Performance Pathway spoke highly of two athletes at the start of exciting careers.

“We’ve been privileged to have Sitaya and Alex as part of our program and they’re fitting recipients of this acknowledgement,” said Lonergan.

“Their talents on the court are well known but their approach to their development, how they work with team mates and staff is a real testament to their character.”

Fagan has been a star for CoE in the NBL1 and featured in the silver medal winning Gems team at the FIBA U19 World Cup earlier this year. The Victorian announced in October that she has committed to USC and will migrate to the USA ahead of Season 2027.

Similarly, rangy guard Alex Dickeson has had a breakthrough year. Dickeson went viral with a clutch three to send the U19 Emus to OT in must-win to escape the group stages of the FIBA U19 World Cup in July.

The 6’3 prospect was selected alongside Ajak Nyuon to join Boomers preparations for the upcoming clash in Hobart.
