Home glory for Willetton as new U14 Champs crowned

Four clubs crowned national champions as the Foot Locker U14 Club Championships wrap up in Willetton, Western Australia.

After an action-packed week of competition, the winners across both the Championship and Shield divisions have been crowned at the 2025 Foot Locker Under-14 Club Championships in Willetton, Western Australia.

Shield Finals Recap

On home court, the Willetton Tigers girls delighted the crowd by taking care of business against the Ipswich Force 44 - 32, to secure the Rachael Sporn Trophy. 

The boys Shield gold medal match saw the Nunawading Spectres claim Phil Smyth Trophy, defeating the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in a thriller 54 - 51.

In the girls Shield bronze medal game, the Perry Lakes Hawks came out on top over the North Gold Coast Seahawks in a hard-fought contest, 47 - 40.

The boys Shield bronze medal clash went down to the wire with the Bankstown Bruins clawing to a three-point victory over Canberra, 56 - 53.


Championship Finals Recap


The boys Ken Watson Trophy was claimed by Logan Thunder, who took down the North Adelaide Rockets in style, 76 - 59.

The girls Championship final saw the Cockburn Cougars blast their way to the title, pulling away from Bulleen Boomers for a 58 - 35 win to claim the Michele Timms Trophy.

The boys Championship bronze was decided with the Hills Hornets overpowering the Dandenong Rangers 76 - 55.

In the girls bronze medal play-off, Logan Thunder claimed victory over the Kilsyth Cobras 56 - 49. 


The four championship winning teams were exemplary throughout a long week of action in Willetton. Queensland's Logan Thunder underlined their reputation as one of the fastest rising junior programs claiming the Boys Championship title to confirm their place among the Australia's best junior basketball clubs. Likewise, the Cockburn Cougars pathway forged it's legacy by claiming the Girls Championship gold in an emphatic display. In the Boys Shield, Victoria's Nunawading Spectres stepped up with a competitive spirit to take out the shield whilst the Willetton Tigers girls took advantage of their homecourt to run home with the Girls Shield. The two Fair Play awards were handed out; the winning team of the Andrew Gaze Fair Play award was Canberra, and the Jenny Cheesman Fair Play award winner was the Eltham Wildcats.
