Basketball Australia is aware of an unsolicited email currently circulating across the basketball community regarding a newly proposed external whistleblower and integrity reporting platform.
As the national governing body, Basketball Australia already maintains a robust National Integrity Framework, which is wholly compliant with Sport Integrity Australia’s standards and includes clearly established and trusted pathways for raising integrity concerns - such as breaches of conduct, conflicts of interest, match-fixing, harassment, and safeguarding issues, including child safety.
To ensure concerns are handled securely, confidentially, and with the appropriate oversight, we strongly encourage all participants - including players, officials, administrators, volunteers, clubs, and associations to use one of the following official channels:
- Via email: Contact the Basketball Australia Integrity Unit at integrity@australia.basketball
- Via STOPline: Use Basketball Australia’s independent reporting hotline, which allows for anonymous reports if preferred:
- Online: Submit details through the STOPline web form (https://basketball.stoplinereport.com)
- Mobile: Download the STOPline app via the App Store or Google Play
- Phone: Call 1300 304 550
These trusted mechanisms are specifically designed to report matters related to integrity, safeguarding, and broader governance issues.
Utilising Basketball Australia’s established National Integrity Framework ensures:
- All reports go through a recognised Integrity Unit with expertise in handling sensitive matters.
- Proper investigative and sanctioning processes.
- Alignment with policies across anti-doping, child safety, member protection, complaints and corruption risk management
The unsolicited external email - and any third-party platform not recognised or endorsed by Basketball Australia - does not align with the required governance standards.
We urge all participants not to use such platforms, as it risks bypassing formal protocols, undermining governance, and potentially jeopardising confidentiality or fairness.
Basketball Australia remains firmly committed to building and protecting a safe, fair and transparent culture throughout the sport.
We continue to collaborate with our State and Territory member organisations, and other partners to uphold these standards.
