The Pearls and Boomerangs have stamped their authority on the world stage, taking out both gold medals in the 3x3 competition at the 2025 Virtus Basketball World Championships in Kazakhstan.
Four Australian teams competed in the tournament: Pearls Green and Gold in the women’s division, and Boomerangs Green and Gold in the men’s. All four delivered standout performances across three days of action.
Pearls Green and Boomerangs Green went undefeated to be crowned 3x3 World Champions, while Pearls Gold claimed silver after an all-Australian women’s final. Boomerangs Gold narrowly missed a podium finish, placing fourth after a close bronze medal match.
Two Aussies claimed the tournament’s highest individual honours, with Jack Innella and Jessica McCulloch named MVPs of the men’s and women’s competitions.
Brittany Anderson joined McCulloch and Innella in the All-Star 3 selections, with three Australians among the six players recognised. The results highlight the strength and depth of Australian talent in global competition.
This run marks one of Australia’s most successful 3x3 campaigns at the Virtus Games and sets the tone as the Pearls and Boomerangs shift their focus to the 5v5 World Championship, tipping off today in Astana.
