Lauren Jackson headlines several Olympians who will suit up for the Seven Consulting Opals at Ford Ballin’24 in Melbourne next week.
Jackson, Marianna Tolo, Cayla George and Tess Madgen bring a plethora of experience to the team that will host China on Wednesday July 3 and Friday July 5 at John Cain Arena.
Four-time Olympian Jackson will represent Australia in Melbourne for the first time in 14 years. She last wore the green and gold in Victoria in 2012 ahead of the London Olympics.
Recent WNBA draftee Isobel Borlase will also be in action along with Melbourne-born point guard Steph Reid and Zitina Aokuso.
The Ballin’24 basketball bonanza provides more crucial Olympic preparation for an Australian squad which has toured China and Japan in recent weeks.
Cheryl Chambers will take the coaching reins, with Opals Head Coach Sandy Brondello in the US leading New York Liberty in the WNBA, and be assisted by Shannon Seebohm
Australian Olympic squad members Ezi Magbegor, Sami Whitcomb, Steph Talbot, Rebecca Allen, Alanna Smith, Kristy Wallace and Jade Melbourne are currently competing in the 2024 WNBA season.
