Ezi Magbegor is one of Australian basketball’s young superstars with a list of achievements as long as her wingspan.
At just 24, she is an Olympian, two-time World Cup medallist, WNBL, WNBA and Hungarian Cup champion.
Magbegor was born in New Zealand and raised in Melbourne’s west, first capturing attention in 2016 for her performances in the FIBA Under-17 World Cup where the Sapphires won a gold medal and the Australian young gun was crowned Most Valuable Player and an All-Tournament selection.
She made her WNBL debut with Canberra in 2017 and joined the Melbourne Boomers the following season winning a championship in 2021-22. During this stint, Magbegor won the league’s Betty Watson Rookie/Youth Player of the Year award on three occasions.
After being selected with pick 12 by Seattle Storm in 2019, Magbegor made her WNBA debut the following year, winning a title in her rookie season, and her continued growth and evolution was highlighted with selection in the 2022 WNBA All-Defensive Second Team.
In 2023, Magbegor and fellow Aussie and Opals squad team mate Alice Kunek were part of Sopron’s Hungarian Cup victory.
2024 will mark her fifth season in the WNBA.
