An experienced campaigner with a sparkling basketball CV to prove it, Cayla George is coming off an incredible two-year period of her career.
A dual Olympian, George won her third WNBL championship in April 2022 when she captained the Melbourne Boomers to title glory.
Just months later she would be part of the Opals team which reached the podium at the 2022 FIBA World Cup on home soil in Sydney winning a bronze medal.
She carried that 2022 momentum into the following 2022-23 WNBL season where she was a runaway winner in the Suzy Batkovic Medal for league MVP in February. George’s sensational form captured attention internationally and she earned a contract with the Las Vegas Aces and would return to the WNBA for the first time since 2018. By October, she had a championship ring.
George, now representing Sydney Flames domestically, will be looking to add a third Olympics to her basketball resume should the Opals qualify for Pairs 2024.
Did You Know?
Cayla George’s best performance of the 2023 WNBA season came in Game 4 of the championship decider against New York. With an injury to big Kiah Stokes, George started and compiled 11 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals in 30 minutes court time, her most of the season.
