Biography

At just 22, Shyla Heal has achieved plenty in the early days of her professional career.

The youngest daughter of four-time Olympian Shane has been drafted to and played in the WNBA, represented her country and won a WNBL championship.

As a 19-year-old, Heal produced a breakout campaign during the 2020 WNBL hub season winning the Betty Watson Youth Player of the Year award and leading Townsville Fire to the Grand Final.

In 2021, she was drafted with pick 8 by Chicago Sky in the draft and played 5 games before she was traded to the Dallas Wings then waived.

Heal made her senior national debut in February 2022 at the FIBA World Cup Qualifying Tournament in Serbia before returning to the Fire and playing a role in their 2022-23 championship.

She was part of the Australian team which reached the podium at the 2023 FIBA Asia Cup in Sydney claiming a bronze medal.

In 2023-24, the point guard took her game to Europe for the first time playing in Poland, Israel and France.

Shyla made her WNBL debut as a 14-year-old with the SEQ Stars in 2016-17 with father Shane as coach.
