Biography

Energy and hustle are hallmarks of Maley’s game which has been on show right around the world.

The athletic forward burst on to the scene in 2016-17 as a teenager with Adelaide Lightning before embarking on a college career for the Oregon Ducks and TCU Horned Frogs.

Upon returning to Australia and after a break from the game, Maley dominated for her home club Eltham Wildcats in NBL1 and produced a breakout campaign for Sydney Flames in 2020 as a defensive dynamo.

She reaped the rewards of working on her offensive game by making a big impact at both ends of the floor for Bendigo Spirit and was a runaway winner for the 2021-22 Suzy Batkovic Medal.

It was just the start of a huge year for Maley who after being named league MVP debuted for Chicago Sky in the WNBA and then won selection for the FIBA World Cup where she was member of the Opals bronze-medal winning campaign.

After two seasons with the Spirit, the 25-year-old crossed to Perth Lynx and as captain led her team to the 2023-24 WNBL Grand Final series.

A versatile star, Maley has enjoyed a plethora of success in the 3x3 format representing the Australian Gangurrus.

Did You Know?

Anneli is one of several Opals squad members with strong basketball pedigree.

Her father Paul was an NBL champion (1994) who played 270 games with the Westside Melbourne Saints, North Melbourne Giants, Victoria Titans and Adelaide 36ers.
